Is this 1794 large cent real?

    Need help determining this large cent which looks to be 1794 head of 1795

    Too damaged to tell if it is real or not, although I doubt that fake ones will appear in that shape

    I don't see any reason to suspect it's fake, but more opinions and possibly more photos will be needed to confirm.

    I would venture real. That would be a lot of effort for a counterfeiting operation to create a fake that is worn to that degree. Only way to know 100% is an in hand inspection. Do you have a local dealer that could inspect the piece in hand for you?

    Yes, a real 1794 S-57 “Pyramidal Head”. It is a head of 1794

    It isn't one of the Gardner heads and it isn't the exact head of 95 (S-72) With just a quick flipping through the possibilities it looks a lot like S-53. which is a head of 94 , but a GOOD one. Needs more time and work to be sure.

    I don't think the bottom curl hooks back enough to be 57.

    The R is in the wrong place

    I think that is due to wear and lighting. The hair ends match exactly
