Consider the geographical location. My mail is right on time in Texas. Maybe even a little faster for me. Can't say for others but no slow down in my part of the world.

To all participants . . . the political undercurrents are too close to the surface for this website. Please put them away before this thread gets buried.

I get two day prime and same day all the time from them. The only delays really have been when a product is out of stock

That's pretty odd, since Amazon themselves have announced that two day Prime will very often be delayed due to Covid. You're lucky, I never get two day any more!

We still get 150-300 amazon packages DAILY for us to deliver at the Post Office. We also Deliver their packages on Sunday out of a "hub" post office. I have to send 6 carriers to the neighboring town every sunday to deliver them. And just so you know......We get UPS, Fedex and DHL packages daily too for us to deliver the "last Mile".

OK. So why all the delays from your point of view? Two day Prime does not exist for me anymore and I was even thinking of cancelling my Prime for that reason, but I do get other benefits from it.

Which is something the previous higher ups at the USPS did a horrendous job negoiating. Amazon gets a massive discount and USPS had all the leverage for drop shipping packing as UPS and FedEx don't deliver to many of those areas.

Are you in a lockdown state? It's possible to your "local" amazon had an outbreak that slowed it or I am guessing a very rural area? It could be any number of things but yea no real point to have prime if you don't get two day anymore especially when Walmart does two day for free as well

Most <places in the country are doing OK with Minimal delays.....however there are a handful of places where if your package heads there be prepared for long delays.....Those being NYC.....NJ (Kearney) Los Angeles, Detroit .Chicago, Dallas, Jacksonville, Miami and Puerto Rico. From most places Priority Mail is doing OK, still delayed by a couple days, but from the above places it can take 2 weeks or more. First Class may take even longer. Another problem is that airlines are so cash strapped, that they are not taking mail because they have better paying loads they can take instead.
Beyond that....there are many factors contributing to the slow down.

Many plants have to follow covid protocal, which means less people to work. Many are in quarantine because of symptoms or positive tests. Even though we are essential workers, we must follow government guidelines.

There are a bunch of articles culled from around the country covering the current situations affecting the PO. You can read those here......POSTALNEWS.COM

I don't see how you can talk about the post office today without it being political. People wonder about slowdowns and service and when you talk about why then it's political.
    Seems pretty unavoidable to me.

Since I started sending virtually everything with "signature confirmation" the service is great! The Coup De Grace was when the postmaster couldn't locate an expensive registered mail shipment that got diverted during shipment.

It's not political for me. The problem I recently had with the slow delivery was covid related. My home delivery has always been pretty good although I have been getting mail from the guy who lived there before for about 5 years and nothing I could do to stop it.. I have heard people complain through my life and offer horror stories of terrible service and I always wondered why because I never had a bad experience.

However....I managed an office building for several years and I realized what they were talking about was true is some cases. That is...that if you DO have a bad experience with the post office and you are in charge of rectifying it, you will grow to hate them.

Several times a year the carrier that delivered to the building went on vacation. Every time this happened, we stopped getting mail. That is...about 20 businesses stopped getting mail. Then I would need to try to get it delivered I would call but nobody would answer, I would go there and I would be told that the post master was not there and they will get back to me but never did. I would put in an official complaint on a national line and by the time they investigated and got back to me a week or two of no mail would already go by and mail would be delivered again.

This happened over and over again. Come to find out that when carrier went on vacation they gave it to another carrier who had his own route. He did his route first and the other guys route later. By that time the building was locked so he did not try to resolve it and just threw the mail in a mail bucket. Then....worst of all...when I came to complain they found the bucket and just gave it to me...never bothering to confirm who I am. Just handed it to a person whose name they never bothered to get. This continued to happen, they never rectified the problem to get the replacement to deliver earlier when the guy went on vacation.

So the US Post office has serious problems in places. Each office is like a little fifedom and if the Lord of that office is bad, it is a nightmare.

Consider then, that when getting political on this website, the consequences may be unavoidable as well.

If you want to vent about party loyalties, etc, that's fine . . . no one's telling you that you can't . . . just take it elsewhere.

I think you missed the point Jeffjay was making. He wasn't saying he wanted to vent about politics. He was just saying this topic naturally leads to politics so one must either be careful or not discuss this topic. Same with me. I was NOT saying I wanted to vent. Not a bit. So you misinterpreted us.

This situation with USPS has been going on for years. It's not just a recent thing since the new Postmaster has taken over. The mail system is outdated and hasn't kept up with changes in peoples mailing habits. I don't send any mail except packages, and my choice over USPS is FEDEX or UPS...and its not that much more expensive. All my bills are paid online.....the only thing I get delivered is Junk Bulk mail advertising flyers. It's time for USPS to start running itself like a business and the taxpayers need to stop bailing them out.

Stuff that's taken 2 days is taking 3 days. Most coins I buy come Signature Required. In the past month I've had 1 package worth $600 where nobody was here and the mailman signed it and left it on the front porch overnight and 2 that were signed for and in the system as delivered that showed up 2 days later! Ive heard they’ve taken out a bunch of the sorting machines as an efficiency measure.

In my experience, I have to disagree. Deliveries have been perfectly fine for us until this year. Before this year, there has been ZERO signs of problems. Now it's almost daily.
