Never bought one but have been told that they help to reduce (inhibit) toning. For that reason they may be worth purchasing. How ya doin' old buddy?
I have heard this too, but I don't understand how. I have been told that Dansco albums are good at toning coins...but I could be wrong.
They are supposed to work the same way that Intercept Shield products work, but I have no idea if they do or not.
I swear by Intercept shield , haven't had any toning problems in a couple of years with them , if the new Danscos use the same technology as IS they should work great . rzage
I have two of them. ITs too soon to know if they are going to work. I hear that you need to replace them every 7-8 years.
I have several Dansco albums with slipcases. I have had them about two years and I feel pretty confident in saying there has been no "new" toning so far.
They do, but they only hold so many per album, and one page holds the same type of coin..so if you are doing a type set, it doesn't work to well. http://www.jpscorner.com/AirTite_Coin_Albums_Storage_Boxes.htm
I would like to see as well. I think I want to go completely away from albums in the near future, but I would like to see the results of the slipcases.
I'll try and take photos this week and post them.... I have silver coins in the 7070 that have started to tone (SLQ, SAE, and a commem, IIRC), and been in the holder for about 3 years. I have clad and silver coins in an Ike set that are quite toned -- but they have been in the Dansco for at least 10 years and only the past few have they been in a slipcase. I'll also take a look at the other half-dozen sets I have, but last time I checked, they had not started to tone....
i have had a dansco penny album since i was 6, 15 years ago, that used to be my grandparents, none of the pennies have started to tone, all look absolutely great for the years they are
I have nickles, dimes and quarters in the Dansco slip cases and they all are toning nicely. I love the slip covers mostly for stability, they are sturdy and as a dust cover. It makes a nice presentation box and keeps dust off them if you have them out on a bookshelf.
I grabbed my Dansco penny album that I hadn't touched since, I dunno, 1986 or so, the coins in it did not tone either.
