a couple more coins from my 20th century type. The cardboard backing has toned the reverses a little spotty and ugly in my opinion. Any thoughts on the grades?
I agree both are VF-20 , The Barber looks like it was cleaned before due to all the fine scratches on the obverse , like the toning on both but really like the toning on the SLQ . rzage
1915- - Has that had some PVC damage? If not, MS-61 1929- I would go AU50. I would still bet you could sell it to Lehigh. Pretty coin.
The toning on that SLQ is insane. Please don't mess with the coin, even if you don't consider the toning to be attractive. Trust me, lots of other people do.
Nice, I like that SLQ. I'll say the first is a VF, cleaned (I could be wrong), and the second higher end VF (30ish?). Phoenix
Teal is my favorite color. SLQ's are my favorite quarters. Therefore, that 1929-S is now my favorite Standing Liberty Quarter. So yeah, nice coin.
Harryj, that is a great looking Morgan. The fields look pretty decent. The color is really attractive and brings out the eagle, IMO.
I would say VF-20/25 on the dime. The quarter would make XF IMO. There is too much detail on the inner feathers of the eagle and on the shield to just be VF. That coin is stunning!!
That's because you're used to seeing costume toning. That's how natural toning lays on these coins. I think that SLQ is beautiful and I think the toning enhances its market value if not grade because there's no question in my opinion that's natural toning and it's un-doctored, untouched-up.
