Ok I confess. I’m 97.664% sure this is a horrible case of PMD. It’s that 2.336% of wondering that forces me to ask.
First of all I know this coin had a terrible life. Lots of nicks and scratches, ya da ya da ya da. There was also a grease filled die affecting IN GOD WE TRUST.

BUT there’s a few semi interesting inventions on George’s cheek. And my real reason for asking is what is appearing as part of UNUM. It sort of looks like a string of letters.
Any chance that they actually are or is it just the results of a painful collision with another coin? 0345F87A-685D-452A-9228-2541313ADA3C.jpeg 4192E228-881A-4989-BF8B-6BA460C852C8.jpeg DF89DAB8-59A2-403E-9C8F-95B5B64A3643.jpeg FA479E6F-5929-4FC7-BBBB-12A3DD2EBAA1.jpeg 9B41486B-5050-46F0-96E7-258D98AB812C.jpeg 737396E9-1716-4FAB-9B3A-FB2587222863.jpeg

I'll go with PMD. odds of a strike through are relatively low. Occams razor

All of this was caused by the reeded edge of another coin coming into contact with this one.

The 97.664% of you is correct. It's PMD or post mint damage.
