Just a recreational collector. All my coins are post 1900 and all come from circulation. Nothing fancy. As my login suggest, I do it just for fun. Thanks for the contest!
Hi! I'm 32, live in Maine, work as an environmental scientist and own a self-service dog wash. Started collecting coins when I was a kid with my father. I'm interested in all types of coins but lately I have been really interested in collecting error coins that are in circulation. I get more satisfaction finding them then buying them.

Well here goes... The Short Version: 22, male, Idaho (currently) The Long Version: I was born in Alaska and only came to Idaho for college, hopefully I will be done next spring (cross your fingers guys). I like history, mainly to study how and why things happened so as to help analyze current events based on past experience, much like Asimov's idea of pyschohistory. I'm into collecting for two reasons primarily: my love of history and my anal retentive desire to have a perfect set of things, like coins. My first coins were given to me by my grandfather on my dad's side, including an antique stopwatch from 1899. Once I saw the coins from other countries, I was hooked. I've been slowly collecting for years now, but just recently got back into full-swing when I saw the selection on eBay. Now I have to find ways to justify spending more money on coins...this will consume most of my time for a while. My favorite coins are ones that are from parts of history that I find interesting, mainly ancient Rome, Civil War, and WWI & II. Also just about anything from Britain or it's former colonies...especially Canada because of their astounding mint. One day I'll have enough money to buy a gold maple leaf...and on that perfect day the world will end. Found this forum when I google'd an ebay coin to find out about it.
well....my name is Julian, I'm 30 living in Miami, Fl. Been collecting for about 15 years, started with world coinage concentrating on Colombian coins/currency (home country after all) and expanded from there. Now I snatch any piece thats appealing to me regardless of country. I've just gotten into U.S. coinage and am currently working on a graded Ike set. Like was said before, gotta love those big coins. Historical aspect of coins is fascinating and artistic value and diversity keeps it interesting. Really want to start contributing back to the hobby, mainly with young numis...info, knowledge, materials etc. so I encourage all to do same! By the way, count me in your contest too!
hello, my name is michael and i live in colorful colorado. i am 33, married, and have a beautiful baby girl. not proud or anything!!! when i was 15 grandad gave me some coins; 2,3,20 cents. that was all it took. the pure history behind the 20 cent piece did it for me! right now i collect lincolns and jeffersons. also have been buying proof sets, sometimes, and silver eagles every year since 86. currently employed as a route driver. i fill vending machines with all kinds of food that is bad for you!! it does however afford me the ability to grow my collection at face value. yea! i am glad i found this site and hope to gain and give info as much as possible. happy hunting, michael p.s. have not quite figured out the quote thing yet, but what part of alaska are you from sledneck? my home state too.

Hello all, I am 33 and live in Marysville, Wa about 50 miles north of Seattle. I began collecting at about the age of 9 after my grandfather died. My grandmother gave me some of his Morgan dollars. I stopped collecting when I went to college, but now, 15 years later, have become interested again. I am currently collection large cents with my 8 year old son.
Hey - I'll give it a shot. : ) Our Great Grandmother, 80, started our interest in coins. She has hundreds, U.S, Canadian, all kinds, collected for 50 years in books. She also had a can of what she called 'Boo boo' coins....uh..errors?...some from garage sales! She gave that can to my daughter, Lace (who is now on your forum). I'm the Grandmother, 60 years old, retired and have my own smaller collection..and some coins I call --conversation pieces. Now my daughter tells me - people actually BUY some of these. So, here I am trying to find out what's what. And I thank you all for your great help so far. : ) Peabody (my favorite cartoon character)
Ooo ooo...pick me! Mid 30s, NW 'burbs of Chicago, professional geek (anyone need a Web site?), 2 cats and too much junk in a too-small apartment. I used to fence competitively (not well, mind you, but I did compete!), and I just picked it up again. I started collecting in the coin club at my junior high school, fell out of it in high school, college and beyond, and just kinda fell back into it about 3 months ago. I have a completely schizophrenic collection: Large cents, Lincolns, Walkers, Washingtons, Ikes, Jeffs, Barbers, Morgans, Kennedys, proof sets, and even a 3 cent nickel...I'm not sure which I like best! I think I'm trying for one of everything!
