...Just arrived! My 1st bid win this year...(and it was reasonable^^).....Tacitus was already 74 when he was elected by the senate..this would mark the 1st time since the crisis began that the miltiary refused to select an emperor, as they had done previously, and handed the chore to the senate. The 7 months between Aurelians death and Tacitus offically taking the reigns of power is where Severina is thought to have ruled as sole and only female emperor(ess)...Tacitus ruled as head of state for 2 years and died either of fever or assassination(there's two differing accounts) on campaign..another down and 10 to go! :)

Not bad, lots of silvering. You think about removing the "desert patina"?

Nice pickup and a great bargain! I would wager that a lot more silvering could be brought out with some very careful cleaning.

Which other 10 are you still working on?

...Maximian, Carinus, Numerian, Florian, Aeemilan on the 'most likely attainable' list and Balbinus, Pupienus with Gordian l & ll on the very high end :D...

Can you get me a Gordian I and a Gordian II, please?

You might as well get a couple of each so that you could keep one of each.

    My Tacitus:
    Billon Antoninianus
    Ticinum mint
Obv: IMP C M CL TACITVS AVG
Rev: CONSERVATOR MILITVM - Emperor, standing on left, with helmet in military dress, receiving globe from Jupiter, on right, leaning on scepter
    P in exergue
    RIC 134
    22mm, 4.4g.

This is the only coin I own that shows Jupiter in sandals and with his loins draped. I wonder if the person depicted is actually intended to be someone else.
