I’d like to ask you Walking Liberty experts for your grade opinion on this 1916 D. The lighting was moved around to get these 5 photos. They pretty much depict the true appearance of the coin inside the 2x2.

    Very best regards,

High VF details, but the surfaces bother me.
Can't put my finger on it but they don't look right.

rlm beat me to it, surfaces look like they have, well, dirt on them. I'd say a strong VF though.

Yes, you are right. Once I posted the CT pictures & really looked at them, they make the coin look dug. Maybe this photo will look better. The coin doesn't look that dirty in hand.

    Very best,

It's VF30 and nothing is wrong with the surfaces. The coin is very nice for the grade.

It's got a lot of the technical details for an XF really, the drape below her left arm is visible over her left leg, you can see the outline of most feathers on the eagle's breast, looks from here like her knee is still round.

When I look at the coin, I see a weakly struck XF -- 35 at worst and I wouldn't blink if it were graded 40. Way too much luster to graded any lower. All IMHO...Mike the overgrader

p.s. that coin does look original to my eye, unlike many walkers you see. Cool coin!!! :)

Early date walkers are graded differently than later date ones. I believe this coin is at least an xf-45, and I don't think AU-50 is out of the question.

There appears to be substantial luster left. I'll go with XF40.

    nice collector coin

    Thanks everyone!

I bought the Walker at the ANA in Baltimore earlier this year. I paid just below Grey Sheet XF money which was $160 at the time. My thinking was that it was a 35 that wanted to be a 40. The originality and underlying luster just said "buy me, I am a good collector coin"

    Thanks again,
