Need some help attributing this one. I don't think it is RIC 446 but it looks a little like it. The obverse legend is: M COMMODVS ANTO N AVG PIVS BRIT The reverse is not all readable all I can see is COS IIII P P
It does certainly look like 446. But 446 is COS III. I would say it nearly matches 363 too, but 363 doesn't have BRIT at the end...
Still only has PIVS on the obverse of the legend. Not PIVS BRIT like @bcuda's coin. I'm still looking but no luck yet.
Apparently an obv. legend var. of RIC 405 and BM 531, from the same dies as a spec. I wrote into my BMC: CNG E243, 2010, lot 365. Here is CNG's photo:
Wondering how should I word my attribute to the coin now? possibly as follows? Commodus Struck 183-184 AD AE Sestertius Obv: M COMMODVS ANTO N AVG PIVS BRIT laureate head right Rev: P M TR P VIIII IMP VI COS IIII P P, S C Pax seated left, holding branch and cornucopiae 18.69 grams , Obverse legend variant of RIC 405 and BM 531
