I've lurked around the forums for a while now, but I had to register and post after I received this from the ATM today!! http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g114/denali55421/20gold.jpg I'd estimate as Fine, no tears just the usual folds. Regardless not something you get for face from an ATM everyday! This will be added to my slowly growing collection. Dean
Not a bad find, an about a 78 year old note(issued ca. 1930). The note is F-2051A in the Friedberg catalog, but they price it in VF at $85. I am guessing in this grade, perhaps $35-45 or so.
Thanks everyone for welcoming me, I really appreciate it. My collection is pretty pedestrian right now, I'm really trying to decide which direction to go. I'm really attracted by the brown seals, but I need to read up on them first! Dean
Great find! Any older and it would have been a large size note. Those brown seals are pretty nice. But would you collect from a certain state or city that they're from? I ask because typically Western states are more expensive. National notes, from Phoenix for example, are rarely less than 1000$. But others, usually from Easter states, can be much less expensive (less that $75)
Hi I have a quick question, I have just started looking up some of my notes and have purchased a book on paper money. I know how to locate the date and the area that the bill was issued but where do we find the information like you have (F-2051A) I see these types of numbers in my book but I dont understand what they mean. Is there something on the bills other than the signatures that refers to these code numbers? Dumb as a rock on this Thank you for your help. Sherri
Yeah about that... I was friends with a cashier at the supermarket I use to work at years ago that actually GOT a $10 gold certificate and a couple silver half dollars from an older gentleman customer, she knew it was "different" and tried to tell him, but he was just like what ever and that he needed the groceries more! I tried my best to buy it off of her because she got it for just $10 ! :headbang: I'm not messing with you guys, I actually held it in my hand.
You just have to look for the seal that has a letter in it such as A, B, C, D, E, F, G... and that letter corresponds with the last letter in F-2051A. These letters indicate which bank branch the note came from.
