    The d is sunk in on the obverse and on the reverse it looks like a d under the m on America

    Damages and that "D" is a bubble, totally messed up zinc coin.

    Ok thanks for your opinion I appreciate it my father-in-law you used to work in tires for 35 years and said there was nothing that he never had seen before so ask them cuz I used to work for him and after 3 weeks for working with them there was something I asked them about and he's like wow I've never seen that before sewing reference I thought there was something there that you guys probably have never seen before ask coin collectors and there could be a mistake there like he seen but thanks for your opinion I appreciate it the stuff does happen thank you.

    The zinc core is corroding. You know what happens to the fender of your car when it gets dented. Zinc will react as well when the copper plating is breached. It's slowly rotting away

    Last time I saw zinc pennies that corroded was back when I served onboard the USS Midway back in the late 80's/early 90's. A couple HT's had to fix our head and found a bunch of corroded pennies sitting in the elbow drain pipe that supported a bank of high capacity urinals. Must have been there a few years by the looks of that corrosion. They all looked just like the one you have pictured here, just not as shined up.

    Did not shine it up just took a picture with my phone had the flash on found the penny in a penny jar
