Looks like someone painted it. Please tell me they aren't leaving the mint like that. Bad enough "crystal eyes" on a coin, (wonder how they would wear on a VG coin...) but I would HOPE the mint is not making THAT.
I do wonder though. One of the bases of NCLT coins nowadays is how they are made from pure silver. That at least gives you a base to work off of for value, with premiums going up from there. However, something like this breaks that for me. What with crystals, black paint, etc there would be a CONSIDERABLE discount if this went to a refiner for that garbage. Might as well be made out of copper nickel to me. Hey, everyone collect what they like. I am never one to throw stones at what trips others triggers, since I am positive you would look down your nose at the small little dirty things I covet. This is just not for me. I want, (have actually, maybe a dozen), of the originals.
Nope, nope, nope and nope...... Of course the joke is probably on me. In ten years these may be worth hundreds.
Now, what if somebody did use this as a pocket piece... that would be very interesting. If it's not painted it might be "ruthenium plated."
A hammer and sickle right next to lady liberty? That, sir, is an abomination. The hammer and sickle should be just as abhorred as the swastika is.
