No, I don't mean a mistery find in a random beer mug or grandpa's basement. Just regular, non-rare, most common coins in and out of circulation, like the ones you see on ebay sold by 10 kilogramms or so. What would you pay? A penny for coin? Bullion value?
I live in New York State and dealers are paying 7.5 times face for silver and I am buying foreign at 6 cents apiece in bulk of 300 to 700 coins.
ok, 6 cents apiece then.Do you expect any nicer coin to show up there or not? If not, hwta the price would be ? 3 cents?
So far I have been taking about 15% of these bulk coins and putting them into my collection. Either first time coins or upgrading condition. Out of 600 coins I usually find 5-10 coins that are worth more than $5. You would be surprised at how often you will find some $100 coins in here. Most dealers don't care to take the time to research these coins. The foreign end of the hobby is to small for them to get really excited about. I have found $200 coins this way. Any coins that I don't want I have been retailing at an antique store where I have a shelf. I sell them at 6 for a dollar. All in all it is an interesting part of our great hobby of coin collecting. Hope this answers your question. If not, ask again. Olmanjon
