I think we are up to week 46.

New here and thought I'd use my contest as an easy way to meet people here.

Post your entry here and include a small post sharing anything about you and what you collect. I'll assign all entries a number and use a random number generator to pick the winner. Entries must be posted by 23:59 Eastern Daylight Time on Friday (22 April 05).

Prize will be a bank roll of buffalo nickels (P) and something else to be determined later... maybe a sac dollar.

Here's my quick bio as an example:
Late 30's, live in CT. Used to collect indian pennies and such as a kid. Just getting back into collecting. Concentrating on all Dollars from Ike to present for now.

OK. I'm game so here's my entry. I'm 45, a Sr. Software Engineer and am an Order of the Arrow Chapter Advisor (A Boy Scout organization). I collected coins as a youth but have not actively collected coins for years but have never lost the fascination. I'm attempting to beome more actively involved in collecting. I have three kids, the oldest having just gotten his drivers license.

I live in Canada, a city called Portage la Prairie in the province of Manitoba.I was born and raised in Toronto but moved to Western Canada over 30 years ago.I am a semi-retired shipper and receiver having been involved, over the years, with such varied commodities as telephone cable, textiles and groceries.
My main area of interest is Canadian 1¢,5¢ and 10¢ coins but I do find it hard to resist many of the Royal Canadian Mint's extra offerings. Things like my avatar.

    Cool Idea.

Currently 48 and employed as Superintendant of cemeteries for Bremen, Indiana, a job that has lasted some 25 years. I am a U.S. Air Force veteran where I was a crew chief on A-37B Dragonflies, F-4 Phantoms and A-10 Warthogs. I was also employed by the Government to paint Nose Art on military aircraft and flight-line maintenance vehicles at Grissom AFB in Indiana. I am a internationally published, professional Lighthouse artist with paintings in 35 states and 3 foreign countries, currently painting for Harbour Lights, Younger and Assoc.. I have had several paintings published in Lighthouse Legacy, Great Laker and Lighthouse Digest magazines. Yes, I have painted coins too, one which I entered in the WINS "Coins as Art" (I think that is what is was named) contest. The painting was called "Chief 3-Legs" and featured the 3-legged buffalo nickel. I have several coin paintings right here hanging over my computer desk as I type.

As for my coin collection, well, I pretty much collect any coin that I want and can afford not really paying any attention to any particular series. Currently I just can't seem to get enough proof sets and proof commemoratives.

Count me in, I live in Wi. My pastimes are fishing, snowmobiling and collecting coins. I collect most coins but have a special interest for mercs&morgans. Recently my wife produced a coin stash which she had forgotten about ( a few thousand coins) which she culled from circulation. Went thru them all and found some nice suprises which has gotten me interested in searching for errors in some of the newer coins. Good luck. ;)

Hello, I am also relativelty new to this forum.
I am mid-30s, married with 2 boys, and another due any day now. I began collecting wheat cents at 5 when my mother gave me her circulated collection in an old Whitman folder. I have been addicted ever since. But when my eldest son turned 5, I got him involded and now we both drive my wife crazy. It is funny to see how involved he becomes, searching Kenndeys' we order form a Bank. He knows what years to look for! We collect everything!!! Currently we have a Buffalo, Sac, Eisenhower, and Kennedy, and Silver Eagle collection going!! I also have a quarter eagle set going (but he's not involved in that)

Steve E--could you post a pic of some of your coin paintings? I'm very curious.

I've been interested in coins since my dad started me on a lincoln cents when I was about seven or eight. I've gathered and hoarded sporadically, but I've been much more active in the past year in educating myself on it and organizing my collection than I ever have been before. I've probably a couple thousand coins, but nothing valuable--but I'm starting to set my sights a little higher! I find world coins most interesting.

I have a degree in painting, and enjoy painting landscapes most of all. I've done very little work in the past year, though, since I have an eight-month-old daughter and no room or time for such frivolous things as painting, reading, eating, etc. My goal is to paint more, enter some shows, and start approaching galleries. I'm in my mid-30s and I've lived in Louisville all my life except for a few years in Laramie, WY.

    Hi,
I'm Don Taylor, and I''m a dad (son is nearly three), a scientist and a clinician. I work for UC San Francisco, where I do neuroscience research, teach medical students and residents, and take care of patients (I'm an anesthesiologist). I'm 45, and love to run, backpack, fly small airplanes and surf. I'm currently concentrating on modern halves and classic commemoratives.

I am 19 from Buffalo, NY, currently working on a Biochemistry degree from SUNY Geneseo. I began collecting American coins about 10 years ago and quickly became disillusioned by the grading system, and not having enough money to buy anything that looked cool.

I switched to being a world coin collecter a few years later with the help of a Sweedish coin I found in a closet. I received further aid from an uncle in Australia and a box of "Foreign coins, 2/25¢" from the same dealership I bought my old American coins from.

I currently have 149 countries, working on covering some from every country. I keep my old US coins with the collection, and still occasionally aspire for a "cool" one from time to time.

I am 46 years old and started working for a medical company 19 years ago after doing 6-years in the army. I started as a field service rep, then a technical rep and now a sales rep. Good money but high stress. I live in Mississippi but raised in New Jersey and will leave this state as soon as I retire. I got back in to coins about 7 years ago and I like to stop at banks in my 3 state sales area and get rolls of halves. I have searched hundreds of rolls and have over $500 in silver halves. My main target though is collecting graded coins (Au or above and no key dates) and am trying to buy 1 or 2 coins of every different coin made in the US. I know I will only to go back so far before cost becomes an issue. Since I like to show my coins and it is mostly to people who no nothing about coins a good mix of all US coins keeps them interested and me to. Coins are history and I have never been into collecting just a set or type because they are all the same except for the date.
