http://www.pcgs.com/prices/PriceGuideDetail.aspx?MS=1&PR=1&c=112&title=Washington+Quarter What are these values in numbers across from the coins to the right and the values above them?
Easy, it's a graph showing the values of PCGS certified coins in specific grades. Take the 1939-D as an example, these are the prices, from right to left: $6 $6 $20 $30 $47 $65 $70 $120 $190 $1,600 Now, if you look above the coins there are numbers that correspond with these prices... 4 (Good-4), 12 (Fine-12), 40 (Extra-Fine 40), 50 (Almost Uncirculated 50), 60 (Mint State 60), etc.. The higher the grade, the higher the price. You can see that in Fine condition, PCGS values this coin at $6 while in Extra FIne 40 it values the coin at $20, and as much as $1,600 in Mint State 67.
