I can't get a pic up just yet, sorry. But after enough searching I found the coin that looks exactly like mine on the internet: an 1897 morgan silver dollar, except mine has a gold head and gold lettering and stars. The rest seems like its silver or white gold. Can't find anything else that looks like it on the internet.
Yeah, it sounds like a coin that was colorized in some way after it left the mint. If that's the case, the coin is only worth the metal value...any collectible value was destroyed when it was colorized.
ok here's the pics I took the coin out of the necktie thing it was in, and I noticed it had a thick layer of lacquor or something on it.
Here is an ebay link to a similar dollar. http://cgi.ebay.com/Gold-Filled-U-S-Morgan-Silver-Dollar-Bolo-Tie_W0QQitemZ220306149153QQcmdZViewItem They are US dollars that have been made into jewelry and thus of no numismatic value , although they can be quite nice as jewelry. Welcome to the forum ! Jim
The best I can offer you to get the rest is to meet me in the high limit poker room at the Borgata in Atlantic City. We will let the cards decide who leaves with the green.
