    KLJ--a few things..

The bicemtennials made in 1975 do not have the date 1975 but have the dual date 1776-1976--

The SBA were also made 1981 too--you can also find Sac from other years too.

I know, I have purchased all of them, but they were never placed into circulation through normal channels. I was telling him what one would normally find in circulation (or at least, in the case of the dollar coins, get out of a stamp machine at the Post Office). The 1981 SBA and the post-2001 Sackies were sold solely to collectors.

True--I know at least one collector that puts the newer dates into circulation just for fun...so you migth find one that you might not find normally.

I stopped at a couple banks looking for halves on Friday, and turned up empty until my third stop. The teller told me that some guy came in a few days before and bought $450.00 worth of halves, cleaning them out, except for a few loose ones in a tray. After she went to look for them, she came back with the coin tray, saying, "Well, there's only about $11.50 here, if you want them...huh, some of these are silver." My disappointment suddenly turned to joy, and I nonchalantly said, "Oh, I'd like to get those from you, please." Sixteen silver clad! My best find in years!

I've been working on circulated nickel sets, and I found a vending machine at school that gives you two nickels in change if you put in a dime, and a different nickel if you put a nickel in. :) So far I've found a few new nickels and some older dates I need. I'm happy!

Latest "finds" include Mexican 1, 5, and 10 pesos. A bunch of them. Mostly brand new, including a roll of the 2005 5 peso coins.

    Well, there's a catch.

Just got back from Puerto Vallarta!

Interestingly, I also came across some 2005 U.S. coins while there.

    :) :) :) :)

  10. Hello All,

Well Since I Run A Vending Route My Access To Coins Is Awsome. So Far Some Great Finds Include A Mass Statehood Missing Reverse Clad And A 1980 Sba Struck Through Grease.

I Also Have Numerous Circulated Proofs. Those Are Always Fun To Find.

Right Now I Am Really Into Nickels. I Have Been Finding Nice Examples From The 40's. A Few Weeks Ago I Found A 38s In Au!! Yea!!

    Happy Hunting,

    Michael

Yesterday I got a 2000 Bahamas cent in change from the gas station...not great but if I can add to my 'random world coins' collection like that...I'll be happy.

I was outside raking the lawn and my 4 yr. old son comes out of the garage and says Daddy, here is your money and hands me a 1946 Mercury Dime. I have no idea where it came from and asked him to show me where he found it. He walks to the middle of the garage floor. Now I know it didn't come from any change in my pocket as I watch it carefully and my wife watches hers carefully. Can't be from our lawn or anything as the development we live in was built in 1996 and before that was just desert. A couple of months ago I also found a silver Rosie in our driveway. I've never before had a mercury dime or silver rosie so I know they didn't come from my coin 'hoard'. Something very strange going on at my house. We don't have regular visitors and where it was found would not be where anyone else would walk when visiting as it is where we park the minivan when my wife is home. Very strange....

looks like your house is a regular stop for the coin fairy.

A couple months back I found a buffalo nickel in my coin cup at the casino. It was just sitting at the top, so I nabbed it. Then I found another one last week. I'll grant that neither one has a date left, but it made me wonder how many have passed through my hands in all my visits to finance my local casino.

Got my change after dining out last Sat. In it was possibly the ugliest SBA dollar I have ever seen (as if Susan B could get any uglier). Even uglier than the uncirculated version! This thing had been drug, beaten, hammered, drowned and ground and to hide it's ugliness they even attempted to paint it!! I had to laugh outloud though when I noticed that it was a 1979P "Near Date". They had probably been trying to get that "thing" out of the cash drawer all day, but I got the last laugh, I gave it to the waitress with her tip, near date and all.

Found a 1944 Silver "S" Nickel today! I've looked through many rolls of nickels and this the first silver nickel I've found. Are they slightly more rare than the other 1940 nickels? I know it's only worth about 50¢, but was just wondering.
