    Odd, both of these would have been upside down no matter which side was facing forward if suspended in the normal fashion. Maybe they were just holed by a board person with no intention of wearing???

    This has a hole due to a flan flaw, though now blocked by the wax deposited when an impression was taken for illustrative purposes, most likely in the first half of the last century. Can't find the picture :(

    Maybe. Like some of the holes that got out in at more random locations, maybe it was merely for practical, utilitarian reasons. So-and-so wanted to carry his or her coins on a string, or sew them into a garment- and didn't care about the visual orientation of the design.
