1971 proof Canadian BritishColumbia silver dollar (little over .5 million mintage) for $10. Lists at $5.75 in coin prices. Guess I just wanted to buy something today and I could afford it. Will post pics in a day or so.
Well, so you overpaid by a few dollars. It happens to the best of us. At least it was an inexpensive lesson.
Cheer up! If you only overpaid by $4.25 you're doing good. That's in comparison to the mistakes many have made. Including me. Just enjoy it when it arrives. EDIT: And look at it this way - you looked at the coin and decided it was worth $10 to you. You got it for $10. And you were happy. Now just stop there.
RB16-When you are right u r right. Spock- Hoarding nothing special and for no particular reason. A packrat who likes shiny things. Tenacious-I hand picked it out of like 20 other ones. Scouted out yesterday and overlooked it in my books and mags.... Until after I got home. Thanks to you all for the support.
I never figured out why the RCM was making those coins in the miniature size when they struck the voyaguer dollars still in the larger size. Curiously I have one of these BC coins somewhere that I paid too much for when I was in the nascent ages of collecting.
Let me put that mistake in the proper perspective. I paid $5 for a Payday candy bar tonight at the poker table because I was hungry.
Instead of paying $10 this weekend, wash it yourself and you'll be ahead of the game. Call it a wash! :mouth:
I wish the biggest coin purchase mistake I ever made was a 5 dollar one. : ) Enjoy the coin, its probably worth the 10 bucks anyway if you looked at 20 of them. Think positive young man!
I paid $11.50 to see Transporter 3 and eat a medium bag of popcorn, in lieu of writing a paper. You didn't do bad at all.
Oops, this was suppose to say "Instead of paying $10 to wash your truck this weekend, wash it yourself and you'll be ahead of the game. Call it a wash!" I think, then I type, double check and then leave out about 1/2 of what I intended to say . . . grrrrrrr :headbang:
given my recent splurging on ebay, some would probably call this a minor mistake...I keep finding things on ebay that are priced as less than they're worth in the Red Book, so I buy them!!! And I'm CHEAP!!! lol....
Get used to it, it is going to happen more and more over the next few months as people hemorrhage extraneous collectables in favour of the almighty dosh to pay bills with.
Now have pics Obv has a pale blue toning to it while the reverse is pale red in the shield and everthing around it is pale blue like the obv. until you get to the rim which is golden and getting darker as it goes outward.
I think your looking at this all wrong. You purchased something you wanted. Regardless of the price, you know have what you wanted so you should be happy with just that. People everyday find themselves paying for something that if they looked or waited a little more they could have saved money. You see a TV set for one price, buy it, 6 months later the same one is on sale for much less. So just when do you stop waiting? Same with cars, stoves, gloves, shoes, toothpicks, etc. Be happy with something you wanted.
