OK, i don't like the design thread with just Morgan and peace dollars. Here's the thread where you can give your opinion on your favorite design from all of the older dollars, up to the peace dollar.... ALSO, leave some pictures to show some examples of your favorite examples of those dollars whichever are your favorites you want to give you 2 cents on.... PERSONALLY, Draped Bust a FAVORITE OF MINE, Also i would say i like the gobrecht & the seated.... I like the flowing hair, but just because its worth so much ****ing money... Really the better design s the draped bust, And when you can find one in 64-65 They POP in your face and scream buy me....
I voted Peace and Other - by other I mean some of the patterns made in the late 19th century around the time of the Trade dollar.
I also voted other. It isn't that I don't like the US Dollar designs, I do. However, I wish that the Washlady pattern would have made it to production. My favorite silver dollar design of all time is by far the Lafayette Commemorative Dollar. Both sides are ultra cool and I love horses.
I agree with that, both of those coins are ****in nice, and i am a bigfan of pattern dollars also....
im surprised no one picked the trade or the seated.... the toning on that first pattern is beautiful....
I still voted Peace Dollar. True some of them were not well struck, but find a good example, and it's a beauty!
My problem with this is that I think it steals from the Brittish design and isn't even an American design. I think the seated design is the biggest mistake of the Mints history, even more than the SBA. Ruben
I like the uncluttered simplicity of the Gobrecht design, although Liberty's right arm is a tad masculine.
Heres some of my favorite patterns... J-1143 J-1613 J-1605 J-2109 GOLD DOLLAR PROOF.... NICE, just some intresting examples....
1. Peace Dollar 2. Drapped Bust 3. Gobrecht Dollar 4. Morgan Dollar 5. Heraldic Eagle Reverse 6. Flowing Hair Dollar 7. Liberty Seated 1804 & Trade dollar no votes....
Well, the 1804 and the Heraldic Eagle Reverse are basically the same thing. Although the 1804 has a couple varieties...it is a Draped Bust Dollar with the Heraldic Eagle Reverse. So, I'd group all those together.
As for the Trade Dollar, I like them but it's just not my favorite design...I'd like to have one, but they are OK. I think a lot of people think of that way. Plus, they didn't circulate in the US so a lot of people don't consider them a "US dollar" coin.
