Seeing an infomercial for a gold layered presidential set, 9.95 for the first year's worth of presidential dollars and a fancy case. Is this a good deal? I've not had a chance to look into The Franklin Mint to know if it's on the up and up. Are you guys buying this?

These people have long been selling this junk to less informed for years.... I would advise to steer clear

Care to elaborate? Is it overpriced? Is franklin mint's stuff not as nice as they make it look? What makes it not exciting to buy?

gold plated seems pretty cool, the infomercial is pretty compelling (aren't they all?? haha) but I wanted to check in here before I pulled the trigger.

yeah, I saw something yesterday about 1929 proof quarter eagles, blast white (?????) on an infomercial and I just laughed. interesting though, they weren't copies...or rather, they didn't say that they were copies. I wasn't aware that they made 1929 proof .999 silver quarter eagles....

The coins they sell you will be worth face value only, any numsimatic value they have will be destroyed by the gold plating, these are now altered coins.

Empty Pepsi cans will be a better investment.

AT one time the Franklin Mint used to actually MINT things.. Silver and Gold rounds.... nice stuff if your into that...but now they are a "Zombie" corporation used as a front to sell crap to people who don't know any better.

Of course, theres always the route of if you like it, buy it. Will you be able to resale it someday...probably not. Will you enjoy them if you happen to like then....heck yes. It's like wondering why the neighbor plucked down 50 grand for a hideous vomit green truck, when you would went for the steel grey Beemer. Ones preference is another's distaste.

Buy what you like. Only you will be the judge on whet you'll ultimately enjoy owning.

Rule #1, ask lots of questions :)

The Franklin Mint is just modifying regular ole dollar coins.

    Franklin mint of today!

The Franklin mint now is just a TV scheme. but the old 1950-1978 was a fine mint of artistic sterling mint. I look for stuff made back in the old days!
