Found a few 1982 small date Lincoln pennies recently. Given my old eyes, I confess that my Carson loupe helps me a great deal as I look at coins. However, I have discovered another use for this simple instrument. Last weekend for a number of reasons (all good), two sets of grandkids wound up spending a few nights with us. Of course (as far as they were concerned), they had to sleep in our bedroom with us. So we had kids scattered on the floor on various cushions around our bed. They went to bed early (ages 3, 3, 4, and 7). Let me tell you that my loupe gives out just enough light that I could weave my way to bed without stepping on anyone or waking anyone up with a bright light. I greatly appreciate the tools of the trade for many reasons.

I wish I had your luck @paddyman98. All I’ve found with my metal detector is some old rusty nails. LOL

One of the largest coins I have found in the wild turned out to be a Chuck E Cheese token. For a moment I thought I had spotted at least a Sacagawea dollar.

So if anyone needs a 2002 Chuck E Cheese in circulated condition let me know.

Here's a picture of one of my favorite coins, the 2019 San Antonio bullion quarter, with a 2020 Samoan quarter for scale:

Got lucky and found several Silver Wartime nickels in my change holder that I hadn't gone through in a few months.

I recently ordered a new microscope for my coin hunting hobby. After trying to fix the glitch with my last beloved one, which worked wonderfully, I had to move on and sadly retire the first - before it's time.

Microsoft updates seem to be the cause of it's demise.
