I would like to have your opinion on what type of error this is? I got it out of a 2005 P Mint Bag. The back left leg appears to be only attached by a small piece. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Calvin

Please post a pic of the entire coin along with the closeups. This helps tremedously in trying to figure out what happened.

But just as a guess - I'd say weak strike.

    More Pictures

    Hi,
I have included more pictures to try and determine what kind of error this is. I also put a picture of a normal bison leg. Any comments would greatly be appreciated. :)

Wondering about the doubling in the "United" or am I seeing things?

Yeah, after looking at the coin again. We noticed the doubling.

As far as the back leg goes, this would appear to be a case of intentional die abrasion ("die polishing"). Low-lying areas of the design are the first to disappear. Neighboring features appear attenuated (thinned).
