Found this a while back and wanted to ask you guys if you thought this was cleaned. And if it was, what do you think was used to clean it ( cause I want to go out and buy a gallon ...or two) Also do you see any DD anywhere? 1968S obverse.jpg 1968S reverse.jpg

I don't think it has been cleaned, however, it appears to be coated, lacquer?

I've run across older Lincoln's just as nice and was advised by our local numismatist that they were not fake. When in doubt seek professional help in my opinion.

Rather difficult without coin in hand.

Appears to have been polished on a jeweler's wheel. Note the smooth obverse. If it's held against the wheel too long, that's what you would get.

Take a look at 1968S cents. You will see this a lot. The dies were used to near death and a lot of the design gets "mushy" for lack of a better word.
This coin wasn't polished. Just a garbage cent from the mint in the late 60s.

Looks normal to me except for a buffing to make it shine so much.

I have two rolls of them and can not tell if they were cleaned or not either. Most of them look broad struck and they all have a filled s.

The OP coin is a normal looking 1968-S cent. No cleaning, polishing or lacquer. It would grade about MS-63. That makes it worth about 1 cent. Nothing special about the coin. Too many out there in UNC rolls to have any value for many years to come.

I agree. I hope I’m right just once. You and I seem like we are against some kind of cleaning
