    I have seen a few PCGS MS66 with visible fingerprints on it.

    never touch a new uncirculated or proof coin. never open any case or capsule. never buy any coin from a dealer. just buy it from the mint and keep it with silica gel. that is very simple.

    WHAT WOULD IT HAVE GRADED , DO YOU THINK, IF THERE WASN'T A FINGER PRINT ENGRAVED ON IT. I'VE SEEN SO MANY CENTS LIKE THAT , THAT I THINK IT'S DELIBERATE SOMETIMES.============zg

    I don't think the fingerprint will affect the grade at all based on my experience with the following coin.

    Fingerprint=MS69

    Wow, I would have never thought of it being MS69. So regardless of anything else on a coin besides gouges and wear, a coin sbhould grade well like yours? zg

    send print to the crime lab

    Send the print to the crime lab & post the names of all the Bozos at CT.

    A fingerprint can lower the grade just like carbon spots, nicks, etc. If it is large & detracting, then it will lower the grade a large & detracting amount. Some prints can appear after the coin is slabbed. One or two points can easily come off the grade. I have seen many dollars that were slabbed after deliberate thumbing. They look *!#&”%awful in the slabs now. If the surface gets eaten away beyond market acceptable limits, then it could even no-grade.

    You could talk with NCS about removing a fingerprint. Don't get your hopes up.

    Very best regards,

    I can't convince the mint to sell me any Liberty cap or draped bust large cents. What would you suggest. :)
