    Hi everybody!
I'm just back from N.Western Europe. In my travels I visited East Africa..and mined for diamonds down in Botswana. Now back to the real world.

I have found this Quarter in my mother's coins. Due to early onset Dementia I've forgotten most of what I learned about coin errors. Truth. So I just want help understanding what I'm seeing on 20200804_100812.jpg this Quarter. The ridges are barely raised. The top 2/3 is dull and has less pronounced devices. There are 2 die cracks but those are inconsequential to me at this point.
    TIA!

Is there anything odd on the obverse?

The diagonal striations look like roller marks from when the metal sheet is drawn through to achieve the required thickness ready for planchet forming.
There are also what appear to be flow lines below the wreath from a die that is becoming worn

Yes to roller marks. Now, did you find any diamonds? Glad you had a great trip.

    Thank you:)
No. Of course not.(De Beers runs a tight ship. You can't go there.) A local connection took us to a shallow mine for exploration and fun. We wouldn't have been able to keep anything we found.

@josh gorman Please start a new thread of your own, Include fotos of your coin, both sides in focus. When you upload them to your post click the FULL IMAGE button. Describe what you are seeing and if possible include in focus close ups of those areas. The very knowledgeable people here can then give you their best opinios.

    John Skelton Morgan man!

You should have gone to Crater of Diamonds State Park in Arkansas. Dig all you want, keep what you find. I understand one person financed his kids college education with the diamonds he found there. Took a bit of time to find enough diamonds though.

Don't think that is roller marks from what I've seen.
The marks extend across the eagle and lettering and should have been eliminated or at least reduced during striking.
    Post mint damage or alteration.
