Good luck with the QX-5, I have a 3 and enjoy it. Back to the pix: #1= strike doubling, but, more interesting look at the mark below & between o and F of 'OF'. It looks raised. #2: sorry, but I don't see anything.
Look again, it's the D on a 1993 cent. I would have thought it was just strike doubling since it's after 1989, however if you look the lower, inside D actually raises OVER the outside D on the right side.
I will not make a finale conclusion on this ,but i think you have a form of machine doubling and maybe a double die possible not sure maybe better pics would do Jazzcoins joe:whistle:
Some time I though that; I have a better resolution in my monitor (Belong to my work); because TED is heigh relieve 2 times very clear, same the D. And each relieve has it self double machining. in other words you can see 4 lines going parallel in the same direction.
skrilla, I think that what you are seeing is actually an optical illusion caused by the lighting source! I see the "D" and the reflection off of the edges but that is it. Frank
"This is Only an Opinion", That one is a RTR (Re-punched Total Reverse), when that happened all the details of the oberse were shake, that's way You see a Distorted D.
Ok I got better lighting and I think the D may be a 2+strike. It doesn't looke like it overlaps anymore, more like it had a light 3rd hit that just barely left a mark. Anyway, I got a book of cents a long time ago and found this today.
Well - I like the die polish lines on the 4th picture. I think it is titled cent2.jpg. I love my QX-5 - really saves on my eyes.
