    True. Reading that thread over there, I think I saw where Wheat Penny Dude mentioned he was just hoarding, and dumping the coins straight into his giant trash cans without much examination. I don't think I could do that. I mean, I might not take a high-powered loupe to check every coin for minute die varieties (not my thing), bit I'd sure as heck have to look at dates and mints, at least, and pluck out the obvious stuff like clipped planchets and such.

    Me too, @lordmarcovan. 10 million LWCs. Even though they've been mostly picked through, there has to be a bunch of blind purchases over the years. How many Key and Semi-key LWCs are in there? How many Variety and Error coins. Perhaps his now 25 YO son understands that there must be some 'goodies' in the mix. The shear number of coins dictates that there are some to be had!! I picked through my nickel hoard (the second one since I cashed in the first) and found this in the mix (in keeping with the interim theme):

    In 2006, in a bulk lot of only around 400 Wheat cents, as I recall, I made this find. After it went XF40 at PCGS, that proved to be a $700-ish cherrypick. It happens.

    So there ain't no tellin' what that dude has hiding in all those trash cans.

    Or, for that matter, what our thread author is gonna find in his nickels. Nickels were always my favorite denomination to hunt.

    In alot of places local credit unions and small scale banks are still closed. Another bad side is there is no place to dump coins after a hunt so If you take 500 dollars in nickels to a coin star it isnt worth it.

    I can get coins from a local bank, and I can drop off coins, but there's a coin shortage anyways. So it's hard to get very many.
