They don't even need to do that. The simplest reason that the Presidential dollar program is a failure is because seeing a $1 is such a rare occurrence, that when the general public gets one, they save it as a souvenir instead of spending it. But if the $1 coin was to become ubiquitous, people would spend them. The easiest way to get them to be common is vending machines. But imagine if vending machines were to change. Soda machines, snack machines, self-serve kiosks in grocery stores and Home Depot. If they gave $1 coins instead of bills, people would have them. Then they would spend them. Human cashiers would soon be getting $1 coins and start giving them out as change.
It looks like they are all gone from the mint you might have to wait until Andrew Jackson comes out next month ? http://catalog.usmint.gov/webapp/wc...10001&storeId=10001&productId=14506&langId=-1
stupid they want public to help clear those unwanted prez dollars. and yet they declared sold out. they should have minted more to meet the public demand at this time. cracy mint.
Guys - with circulation strike coins it usually has nothing to do with the mint. The bottleneck occurs when the distribution center or the packaging center runs out of coins - or packaging materials. The mint ships coins to the packaging center. The packaging center then ships coins to the distribution center. The distribution center then ships coins to you.
rolls offer presidential rolls offer again directly from the u.s.mint. pres. jackson is sold out quickly. others still available.
order it again i order 500 pc coins each for madison, jackson and monroe dollars. unable to get john quincy adams.
new suggestion to the mint i suggest the u.s. mint should sell all unwanted coins without shipping charge to the collectors. like the excessed statehood quarters, sac dollars, kennedy half dollars and westward nickels. take all coins from the rolls and bags and re-roll or re-bag it and sell it at face value. just like the presidential dollars. instead of keeping all those unwanted uncirculated coins in the vault for many years, example of it is the 2001 kennedy half dollars.
can't understand i still can't understand why the mint like to dispose all presidential dollars and still imposed limitation to the order at 500 per president per residential address. if people want more. sell it to them. and clear all presidential dollars. secondly, the mint should keep deducing production for presidential dollars as well as the new sacagawea dollars. too many and few want it.
prez dollars so far, what prez $ design that you like most?. i like washington, jefferson and jackson.
prez roll i am very eager and waiting to get pres. van buren. when can i get it at cost from the mint?.
