as you cam see in my 1971 mint set I have 2 san Francisco mint cents and no Philadelphia mint cent. I have not seen this before does anyone have any more info on this type of thing
It happens.. I have seen it before. No premium for that unless there is a collector who desires to have such a packaging mistake.
There might be some folks who find that interesting enough to pay a modest premium- who knows? I think it's kind of neat, though modern mint sets are definitely not my thing.
It is my understanding that those mint packages are assembled elsewhere and it would be easy for an employee to mistakenly pick up the wrong coin, or have it in with the others.
It happens occasionally. Premiums for such sets are typically very modest such as a dollar or two as a novelty. Most collectors aren't that interested in them because 1 they aren't a "mint error" they are a packaging error, and 2. Collectors buying a mint set want the WHOLE set. That set isn't "whole".
hi there {DblButtBuffaloHalfEagle} i have the same thing and called the mint they have on record that this has happened b4 with 2 nickels -s mint but never 2 s-pennies i been on the hunt for anyone other dealers calling the mint today, than i found you... lol i hear the mint might want to pay a nice premium for its museum coming in 2021 so i hope you still have it... if you found out more lmk and i'll do the same for you... It's not an error coin but an error in packaging. That's s big difference to a coin collector. Some people do collect mint packaging errors but the premiums on them are very low except when it's new and the hype on it is involved.
