Dear Sir, I humbly ask and am interested in your knowledgeable opinion on whether this coin may be missing clad layer obverse and reverse or simply just a damaged coin?

You have a Clad Quarter with environmental damage to both sides. Clad is comprised of Cupro-Nickel which is a mixture 75% Copper and 25% Nickel. Exposure to the elements with tone the clad.

Here are Environmentally damages coins from my metal detecting finds..

    It occurs with Nickels also.

Also.. Missing clad layer usually only occurs on one side of a true error with that issue. I gave examples of missing clad layer from my collection in the beginning of this thread.

Correct. Exposure to soil, sand, dirt, heat, saltwater, brackish water and harsh chemicals will affect clad coins and nickels.
