Hello everybody, I will probably need to ship a few coins international via FEDEX. Which is the best way to describe a collector coin in the documentation? I can think of 'Collectable Coin' or just 'Collectible'. What is appropriate (to minimise the chance of loss/theft), and at the same time compliant with customs regulations? Thanks for any suggestions!
Numismatic item. Really the minimizing theft/loss is just making sure it has tracking. If the coin is an ancient there are A LOT more regulations about what is legal to ship out of a country
Frank Robinson, a pretty legendary dealer to many in the ancient and world coin sections, used to label his shipments "metal stampings". Its true, and who wants to steal those?
I used to get them from a dealer who marked the package "oval and round metal discs" Always made me smile.
Some dealers I regularly buy from try to avoid terms such as “coin” or “medal”. Usually they list a “numismatic item” or “token” on the CN22 form.
I think the bigger worry for any of his shipments would be if he's breaking any export laws if he's shipping ancient coins since his profile says he's in Europe
