Well, this just came in today. I love the look of it but I suspect it's been cleaned. The darker area between the wing and America and by the arrows, and outlining the field inside some features has been noted.
By the auction pics, I expected it to be dull, but when I got it, I found it to be shiny, like a 1998 quarter that's been in circulation for a while. No pin wheel luster. Hard to photograph that aspect.

Please offer your opinions on this coin and grade if you dare. No cheating. I think the grade is obvious. Also, can this type of toning be AT? Would it be easy to produce or not likely?
It has a 7 day return policy.

Dia. is 30.47 (spec 30.6) mm. Weight is 12.30 (spec 12.44) grams.

I would say VF25/30 and I think cleaned - mainly because there is dirt in the devices yet the fields are spotless. Just my opinion and I am not an expert on these.

I agree with Mark. Hairlines in the fields if viewed with point source light?

The photo makes me think VF Details Cleaned Re-Toned.

    Very best regards,

VF details, cleaned and retoned, net F.
The toning may be natural, but it is a look you see often on AT coins as well.

A nice VF-25 coin , probably cleaned but still a nice coin for the grade , I like it .

Then it looks like I'll be sending it back and not dealing with this seller anymore.

He advertised this as an AU!! Granted, I knew it wasn't that!! But based off his pictures, I had myself convinced it was at least an EF. But now, having it in hand, studying the wear up close, and listening to the unanimous comments so far, I now believe this is a VF as well. Only I paid a 'negotiated' EF-45 price with a best offer!

Believe it or not, the Buy It Now price was $230.00 on this coin! I paid much less than that but it was still way too much. And this is far from an original, problem free coin, with possible AT'ing.

He says customer satisfaction is priority #1 so I guess we'll find out.

Thanks for the wake up call everyone. I did my best trying to grade by his pics but they just were not that good. This will be the first coin I return.
If the price would have been reasonable, I'd just keep it but I"ve completely lost favor with it and I'm now disgusted with the deal. What a pain. :goof:

I believe it has VF-35 details, but VF25 as a net grade.

    Cleaned VF....

Although I have had some good transactions on e-Bay, this is why I have tended to use a few select dealers (usually PNG members) for transactions and have begun to avoid e-Bay (I have had less than 10 transactions).

Be very polite and ask to send it back. You WAY overpaid for that coin, IMO....Mike
