I know some of you guys use a special kind of stapler for coins. What are those kind called? I am looking to buy one, but not sure how to tell if it is the one I want for coins. stainless
I just use a Swinger...I'm assuming you need it for 2x2s? It goes right through pretty easily...I think anything will do.
Follow this link in the general discusion forum for what clembo got. I remember it cause he never posted a picture of it.
Not sure why the link does not work - but use the advanced search feature. Put in stapler for the keyword and then search only the general discussion forum. It was a It's a MAX HD-10DL stapler.
Yeah; it's called a flat-clinch stapler. Lots of the guys sell them at coin shows around here for $20. I looked all over in commercial stores and never found them. It's a good investment. A small staple scratch on a coin can cost you way more than $20.
THe one I have is called Flat Max. My local coin shop was using it and I liked it. In addition to having the flat clinch staples, it has a raised area that when stapling 2x2s, it doesn't hit the coin like a traditional stapler does. I bought mine through Brent-Krueger.com. THe have the best prices.
I never liked the look of the cinch-staples on my 2x2s. It’s just my preference. I just prefer seeing a straight staple on the 2x2. I think if I was a dealer & processed large volumes of coins, then I would want a cinch-stapler. As a collector, the best straight stapler I ever found is a Swingline SW129950 Pliers Type Stapler. I used it one time & then went right out & bought one for myself. I feel like I have good accuracy with the plier design & it basically never mis-fires when I staple very thick items. Try it, you'll like it. Of course, you'll still have to flatten the staples like when you use any flat stapler. Very best regards, collect89
