So if you buy something from them, they send other stuff you didn't ask for?! Wow. Sounds like a pain.

To me it is. They are honest and have a good name. I personally do not care for their business model.

I don't have a favorite online coin dealer.
But when I search eBay I will give preference to some dealers.

I have made several purchases from L & C and found them quite easy to deal with. Living in a rural area, I have no LCS, so I do all my acquisitions over the internet. I have not been disappointed by the coins I have purchased from them.

I have L&C in my toolbar favorites. I have never ordered from them before but I've been window shopping on their site for some time. It appears they have quality coins and not out of line on pricing. Nice to hear people have had good experiences with them as I do think I'll order from them.

I would like to see what other online coin sellers or auction sites other members recommend. I did look at a couple of these that were mentioned a few years ago, but, like country clubs, you need more money than your average collector has to participate on so many of those I visited. L&C is one I must visit, it appears. I have now.

I have a good bit of business with David Lawrence Rare Coins and Sarasota Rare coins. Both good companies who are very professional, honest and customer focused.

I like to look and laugh at Rick's TV show. Last night he offered the $10 Indian Gold coin MS64 for just under $2,000. How does that compare with other online dealers?

I like to look and laugh at Mike Mezack's CSN TV show on the History Channel. He's also on HSN once in a while. Most of his coins are a rip-off, but he's very knowledgeable about a lot of different coins. Definitely a salesman.
    Who's Rick?

I thought that if I just said "Rick" everyone would know that I was referring to "Rick Tomaska Rare Coins" on TV, sometimes several channels at the same time.

If you are looking for other sites, I have made many purchases from Empire Coins in Phoenix, AZ and Mt. Vernon Coins in Annapolis, MD. Both have large selections and I have not had any issues with them regarding shipping or the quality of the coins.

I have found L&C to be too expensive in relationship to many other online dealers. There are too many that I use to list them all, but if you search around and compare prices for like coins, you'll soon learn which ones you wish to deal with. Like most things, research and the learning curve are ever present.

Do you regularly negotiate when you are buying online? Or do you find that online dealer's prices that they list are pretty much set in stone with them?

A few good buys here and there but more often than not they are more expensive than other sites. Don't care for their coin albums though some are okay. Absolutely do not care for L&C's coin on approval system.

I thought it was Littleton that had the on approval system.

I looked at L&C for the $10 Gold Indian. He sells a lot of his stuff without the grading. He or his staff give them a grade and then say "Uncertified". I'm a little (maybe even a lot) concerned about buying expensive stuff from someone I don't know. I see that some on this forum have bought from them. Mostly, there were good reports. Any guidelines on buying from online sellers?
