I NEVER expected to find this. My grandparents came over, and offered me their change because they know I collect coins. So, I looked through it real quick, not expecting anything special. But amazingly, I found this:

Too bad for all the scratches on the obverse. Looks like someone decided to clean it or something with a toothbrush. :( But it is still a w quarter, so I'm keeping it. But I hope to find a better example later.

So who cleaned it? your Grandparents. Did they know about the W quarter or was in in their pocket change.

No, they didn't clean it. They had no idea it was rare. Like I said, they just let me look through their change. My grandpa is a truck diver, so he has a lot of quarters that he can use at toll booths. But he let me look through the dozen or so he had at the time, along with some of his change. And that's where I found it.

I don't know if it's because I live in a small town or bank at a credit union, I haven't seen or heard of anyone in Eastern North Carolina with a Quarter W. When I buy gas or go to the grocery store, I always pay with folding money hoping to get a neat coin. I don't know what type of location W quarters are dropped off. Any magic?

I am in South Carolina and lamented since the beginning of the W quarter program.... I never saw nary a one so I gave up actively looking... Maybe a month or so ago I ran into the convenience store to grab a snack and darned if the cashier didn’t hand me a fresh minted West Point quarter. They are out there.

Aren't grandparents great! I sold a motorcycle last year to a truck driver who offered me a large Folgers coffee can full of coins if I took $200 off the price I accepted. Mostly quarters there was $287.58 in that can I was very surprised especially when I found several worthy coins including 3 W's. He loved the bike and it made my day also. One never knows what to expect I was very fortunate and thankful.

My wife and I usually pay with our VISA. About the only time I use cash, is when I get gas. Maybe I just need to change stores.

I live in Concord NC. For the last 2 months or so I’ve come across 6 of the 2019 West Point quarters. I got 3 within 2 weeks after I learned bout what the deal was

Don't worry about it. You are fine. The thread is only 25 days old and the topic is W minted quarters. I have yet to find one! So congratulations and post pictures if you can!

Nice never had one yet. Once I found a 1942-P BR with red and green copper corrosion in my mom wallet the corrosion was in layers

Interesting. I never knew about these 'W' Quarters until seeing this post. So I never specifically looked for that feature in my pocket change. Maybe I will next time.
