I see so few Halfs in circulation these days that I tend to pocket all I find. Here is a couple from the last year. http://www2.mrbrklyn.com/coins/11252008/kenedy_1971.png http://www2.mrbrklyn.com/coins/11252008/kenedy_1971_rv.png This is the second coin http://www2.mrbrklyn.com/coins/11252008/kenedy_1971_2.png http://www2.mrbrklyn.com/coins/11252008/kenedy_1971_2_rv.png
I picked up $50 in halves the other day and found about 15 1971's. The one you have looks like its in good condition.
just pluck the best one and keep it. Send the rest back and repeat as needed. BTW - my banks don't carry halfs anymore...at all. Ruben
1971 Kennedy halve hard to get in a high grade it seems I have close to a roll of 1971 kennedy halves and some have a proof like surface They seem to be the most common ones to get in circulation i think they minted plenty of those halves. I have been trying to get halve s at local banks recently ,and are getting harder to come by for me anyway. I think people hoard them not to say collectors too. i have noticed that particular date is hard to get in a high grade. When I came across the 71's .I had to pick the best ones out and like i said some nice ones with the PL surfaces. i guess I was fortunite to obtain them in the high grade first strikes Jazzcoins joe
Some banks will bring them in for you and others can't or won't mess with it. It's cool to have friends at the bank. The person that orders coin for the banks business customers, is someone to be nice to. I actually had one really nice lady offer to save them up for me. She called me after a couple of weeks and had a whole bag ready. This probably won't happen with most banks.
Banks in this town aren't going to play too much with its patrons. They don't want to handle cash at all Ruben
