I cant believe a coin can be so expensive with such ugly eye appeal

    The difference is that one of those two is rare. And the rare one isn't bronze.

    Anyone that thinks that a 1909-S VDB cent in MS RD is rare doesn't understand rarity. I can go to any mid-sized coin show and find several '09-S VDB cents, and a few Reds. Same with '37-D 3-legged Buffalo nickels. 1916-D Mercury dimes - how many do you want? Expensive? Yes. Rate - No.
    But find a problem-free Bust dollar, let alone MS - that is rare. Find a 1916 SLQ - rare. Lots of examples
