Okay, I posted this a while ago. Now I just adjusted the lightness in order to show someone's handywork. Any ideas how this was done??:headbang: zg
That's amazing how much it has changed. Kinda sad, even though it is AT it was beautiful, It's still cool though, I wouldn't give it away.
This: I still cannot find anything related to this (other than a similar coin struck in Leningrad mint) as well in any pattern catalog.
Kamnaskires-Orodes Kingdom of Elymais AE drachm – 16mm c 150 AD bust facing with long beard wearing diademed tiara; to right, pellet within crescent above anchor with two bars series of dashes Alram 478, Sear GIC 5910 Rather odd reverse design!
Its a counter strike. I'm familiar with that symbol, but don't know the sourse. Maybe the Maisons? Ruben
Almost positive it is a Masons. But note the condition and the year of the coin. Strange that it would be in that shape if countermarked in 1953, and why 1953? perhaps a birthyear or some othe significance. strang to find in circulation. Pocket change is still an amazing source. Picked this up yesterday in change from a gas station. Is the econmy geting so bad that some are breaking out rolls or busting up collections? I still need practice with the camera, but this still has the mint shine in 2008.
AH - very good. Worth keeping. I've been posting a bunch of these....on just this theme...stuff ulled directly from circulation. In 1953 the Maisons discovered the Body of Mohamed and laid it to rest along with Vincent Van Gough. Ruben
