Okay, when do you think they're going to come out? Will they be the same as the ones being printed now? (I'm pretty sure the new design c-note will come out with the new treasury sec and treasurer on them, so that doesn't count) or will they have the new different sizes as demanded by the courts?
Timothy Geithner's nomination as Treasury secretary raises another question. Will he sign as this attachment?
Your post, while true--has nothing to do with the OPs question. The release of series 2009 is now entirely contigent upon a Treasurer being chosen. If the president-elect Barack Hussein continues to move with the unusual speed that he has been, a Treasurer could be chosen fairly soon and series 2009 notes could first start to appear as early as March or April. Series 2006 could remain in printing for many more months though if selecting a Treasurer is on the low list of priorities, which is typical of a new administration. This is because Treasurer typically doesn't have much responsibility and is mostly around for symbolic purposes.
Did you MEAN to infer something by saying Barack "Hussein". I realize this is his middle name, but I think it highly inappropriate to leave it like that. Especially in a CoinTalk forum. His last name is OBAMA, in case you were unaware
My good sir, what is there to infer? The election is over. My sincerest of apologies for this apparent typo on my part. Hypothetical-- So if I made a gaffe and just said William Jefferson without putting in Clinton after Jefferson, I wonder if others would get so distrought about that.
One could certainly infer that there was much more to said statement than a mere slip of the keyboard. Which is why we hae PRWE, so we can slosh the mash t' each others liberally. Do come join our fair miscreant brethren therein, considers it an invite:thumb:
Agreed. Let this be a warning, should this thread stray into areas not permitted it will be trashed immediately and those responsible will be issued infractions.
Point of information: the courts did not demand different sizes. A court simply ruled that the Treasury wasn't doing enough to make paper money usable by the blind; no specific requirements were imposed as to exactly how the Treasury has to remedy that situation. And I believe that the Treasury is now appealing that ruling anyway.... It'll be *years*, if ever, before we see any changes as a result of this ruling. And when/if we do, I'll be very surprised if the size of the money is what they decide to change. That'd be just about the most expensive possible option to implement, because so many cash registers, vending machines, birthday cards, and who-knows-what-all else would have to be modified to accommodate the resized currency. As to Series 2009: what NOS said (minus the political overtones). Averaging out the results of the past few new administrations, I'd expect to see the first Series 2009 notes printed sometime around next September...plus or minus four months. (In particular, I'd expect to see the first Kodachrome $100's come out still having the Cabral/Paulson signatures.)
