Just got this guy in the mail. Gotta say very happy with it. Goes nicely into my Shilling collection.
I bid on this lot in the last CNG sale and was successful. They were German States coins and most were ones that I didn't already have. They had the bottom right coin attributed as being from Nurnberg. However, after getting it in hand I immediately recognized as a piece from Ottingen. Even better. And this one is worth more than I paid for the entire lot. Obverse: Hessian lion in laurel wreath Reverse: Value and date within legend Reverse Legend: GEORG LANDGRAF ZV HESS around *I*/ ALBVS Ruler: Georg II Composition: Silver
The 1689 6 pence just came today, from the recent DNW auction. The 2001 Mongolia 500 togrog I finally managed to photograph kind of adequately. It is actually the color of shiny stainless steel, very difficult to photo.
Three british coins that were added a few days ago : two shillings and six pence. These are seller's pics as I didn't have time to shoot others yet Sp # 2794 Sp # 3701 Sp # 3749 Q
Sweden 1662 1/2 Öre. The 1/2 denomination is not as common as the 1/4 and even 1 and 2 Öre denominations.
From Tom Caldwell at NorthEast Numismatics. Coin was previously housed within a PCGS MS63 slab. It picked-up the PL designation at NGC but was lowered a point to MS62PL. I've got the old PCGS insert, when looked-up on their verification page absolutely no question it is the same coin. Was thinking I might ask about getting the coin back into a PCGS holder at the MS63 level --would be nice to have the PL or even DPL designation to go with it but that's less important in the bigger scheme of things. Purchasing it in an MS62 holder certainly made the price more reasonable, and the coin is what it is, so I'm not too concerned about the outcome either way. PCGS Members Only Show is this coming week, will probably stick my head in and ask about it rather than sending it in and hoping for the best.
Moldova, 2019 commemorative with unusual crudeness of finish around the edge, just within the rim. Perhaps some sort of error?
This is the first coin I've purchased in awhile. 1974 Nepal 50 rupees. I was inspired after seeing a red panda at a recent trip to the zoo.
