Albums are so 90s US coin collectors mostly own slabbed coins and storage boxes for slabs are the preferred choice. No way I’d go back to albums.
That's fine. Just be aware that you hurt the resale value of this coin by cracking it, and that it is easy to damage mint state surfaces with album slides.
Yes, I am aware. I need to collect in the manner that satisfies me, otherwise the hobby is pointless to me. I don't expect to need to sell them, and I have no one to leave them to when I die. So I'm not concerned on those fronts. I appreciate your style of collecting and your thoughts, though.
I have a wife who pays little attention to the value of collected coins. As a friend who is not a collector said, "Why should you care if she takes all of your Morgans and Peace Dollars to the bank and deposits them at face value?" I shudder to think...
I will leave a list of what I paid for them, and ways to sell them, and a link to cointalk.com so that my wife, if I die first, can at least have that knowledge to do as she pleases.
this coin at this grade at numismedia price is 144.00..this is the pricing guide i use, they are more realistic than pcgs and others, redbook and bluebook are good for mintages and varieties only, not for pricing!!!
I think he has me on ignore because he doesn’t like what I say. If so, then I may just put him on ignore so I don’t accidentally help him in the future
