has anybody ordered the new Barack obama inaugural coin yet. i don't care for them. I don't know why they didn't make the obverse a normal looking coin. . Well let me know your input on this please.

It is "Layered in Genuine 24 Karat Gold" and it only costs $9.95. We should all be investing in them. Somehow, I think that begs comparisons, but I will refrain.

Wouldn't this coin some day be worth money? ... Didn't vote for Obama but I might pick up this coin.

I love it. I would never buy it but I love it.
When he said he wants to "spread the wealth around" some of us took it literally to make a grab for the brass ring. While not coin related, I'm marketing a couple Obama POsters and stickers on ebay and since I live in DC, I'll be hitting the streets over the Inauguration weekend to accept some of that liberal spending into my empty pockets by selling my wares in person....on January 21st, I will ofcourse buy more coins ...YUM.

I LOVE this country and the opportunities that living here provides.

This coin is a Presidential dollar that is painted with Barack Obama's picture. Its the same as these companies painting a 9/11 pic on an ASE or anything else. These coins are typically layered in a negligible amount of gold that is worth very little. I wouldn't even consider this the "inaugural" coin. Its worth exactly whats on the coin....$1.

Looks like they just slaped a print out on one side of a dollar coin. This isnt anything official is it? Some kind of TV offer?

I would highly doubt it to be honest. It's just like the plated State Quarters IMO.

This isn´t some kind of official inaugural coin? It looks trashy. I´m sure the US mint can do better.

    LMAO! :D

That being said, it's a normal $1 coin with a printed sticker on the front. If they were giving one away for free, I wouldn't bother filling out the form.

If/When the US Mint decides to mint a '44' coin will be the only time I will purchase... be it the presidential series or a commemorative.

I thought an look at policial iconography for potential coins was quite interesting.

More interesting than the boring design that was posted.

Any of these would make better coins..
