Last June we met a Young Numismatist (YN) at the ANA summer seminar and she is quite the talented artist. She sold a sketch at the YN auction & it fetched several hundred dollars. I commissioned her to draw this sketch which we received in the mail. If anyone wants her to draw coins or portraits, she would enjoy hearing from you. Just PM me with your Email address & I'll put you in touch with each other.

    Very best regards,

Maybe she'll give Charles Daughtrey a run for his money on numismatic art.

just a quick thought---before she draws that person much more, make sure that either you, or her check with a lawyer. I'm pretty sure that Marilyn Monroe is Copyrighted. Kindof like Co. Sanders of KFC. If she is that could end up for big fines....

I agree with that. In a world of attorneys that are just looking for work, copyright infringement, slander, irroneous statements are thier bread and butter. Every year here in Illinois there are approximately 2,000 people passing the bar exams. Be carefull out there.

So Andy Walhol is being sued? Actually, as a fact, she can not be sued for infringement any more than any other frivolous law suit.

Famous people are actually deemed "news" and deemed fair game ....period.

But if you type the letters, "MARILYN MONROE" on your key board, now your in deep trouble.

BTW - Col Sanders is Trade Marked but you can still draw the picture ....

god...what kind of world do we live in?

    $25 to $100 range I think

She is a student & I believe that I was the first person to offer her payment for an original sketch. I offered her $75 for a sight-unseen work of art because I was just impressed with her talent in Colorado Springs. She specifically asked me to give her Email address to anyone at CT that wants to contact her.

    Very best regards,

Satirical, parady, and likenesses aren't copyright protected. Col. Sanders is, because like Buggs Bunny, he's a fictional character created by a corporation to sell goods or entertain by means of profit. A live person has no such protection, whether they are living or dead. But, if that picture was create using a still photo or any other art, then we're talking copyright violation. There are a lot of leeways for artists, if they know where to look.

    Omega counterfeit die marker

I believe that this YN has taken counterfeit detection at the summer seminar. She places her own mark like the Omega counterfeiter did.

Not to hijack a thread but fried chicken is one of my vices. I envy you that they were just a few blocks away.

Back on topic, very, very nice drawing. I always admired people with artistic talent since I struggle to draw stick figures.
