This is graded by PCGS. Be forewarned that the holder has been banged up, especially on the obverse side.
Had you not warned us about the holder, I would have said MS details, based on the scratch. I am going with 63, because the cheek is baggy, unless those marks are on the holder as well.
And let me say, a beautiful example of a 1927; for whatever reason, this particular date (all mints) seems to be particularly worn or grimy.
You are correct about the holder being messed up. How about you crack it out and take some good photos? Just kidding of course. Enlarging your photos leads me to believe it is a weak strike, but not quite a MS, so maybe AU58, but what do I know?
That is a nice '27. I will admit, at first glance the obverse is difficult to ascertain what is marked on slab vs. coin. The reverse is beautiful and great luster with good fields. I still think the obverse has some bag marking on the 9 o'clock in the field and wear on the upmost curl. l am going to say my first impression was MS 64
