1983 Lincoln...all its cracked up to be, you 'cud' say Sorry for the puns Don't expect it to be worth more than 1 cent, but its interesting. I can only imagine the die was retired not long after this strike. That or it simply disinigrated. There are 5 die cracks (all 4 corners of the memorial and one running through CENT) and what I think are 2 small cuds, both on the right side of the memorial.
Pretty cool coin. I personally collect all the die cracks and cuds I can find. If nothing else they provide excellent markers for die state progression.
That cool, metoo I have some of these. Thought you guy may interesting too. Here take a look. I know pennies wasn't really worth, but I love to search pennies for error.
I have a penny that is just like the first penny you posted in the pics. I love the one with the crack above his head. This morning in my run to the bank for change, I found three die crack pennies and four State Quarters with large die cracks.
As a matter of fact, I have kept all of them. I love die cracks. And I will give you 2 and a half cents for it! Not a half cent, but a penny cut in half!
I let go most of the more common reverse die cracks that appear at one of the corners, but this one put forth a little more effort and made into my collection
If you like cracked coins, you may love this,,i have a 1921 morgan that has several cracks,,on the reverse, there is a crack starting near the edge above the F,running under the eagles wing tip, along every letter in america, touching them all, under the star, touchin the L L A R in dollar before heading to the edge,it reappears under the O running directly under the D, above the E and into the leaves,.the other side has several also,,which brings me to a question, are cracks more common in old coins?,,jus curious,,,IF i can get a good scan or pic,,ill post it later
