    I'd say the 1st one is VG-8 , and the 2nd is G-4 .

The first one is a F-12, and the second one is a G-6.

    Hey, Anthony...that's a mighty-fine (no pun intended...really!) Liberty nickel you've got there.

Why yes...yes it does. I rarely forget a coin. Especially one that was in my possession last week.

Based on your pics...I have hard time telling. But, for the coin to grade F all the letters in Liberty must be readable. They don't have to be overly strong but they need to be there. It looks like in your pic the L and I are awful weak...I can't really see them. If they aren't very visible, your coin is in the VG range IMHO.

Again, your pic is so grainy it's really hard to tell.

stainless , yours looks like it has all the letters , though a couple are week yours is F-12 , his is missing a few letters thus can only be a VG-8 .

I agree with stainless on this one. F-12 and G-6 according to modern standards IMO. The standards have really become lax, as I've seen many V-nickles without full rims grade G-4 by PCGS.

But the standard is the ANA grading standard 6th edition , not PCGS or NGC which I both like .

I agree. Just because the TPG's are lax does not mean we should be. From the pictures I agree stainless's coin is F, but the pictures on the original post I can not see all the letters of liberty so VG. I put my grade at VG10 because it looks like I could see all the letters except for LI. With the coin in hand I might go fine if I could see all the letters. So the original poster can let us know if all the letters are readable.

I traded stainless the coin. Coin in hand, all the letters are clearly visible, though the I is weaker than the others. LIBERTY was not strong enough, nor the hair detail strong enough, to call it VF.

    VGF-11 or FVG-11

For the first one, I wanted to coin a new grade of VGF11.

Based upon current trends I will give the first one a F12 and the other a G6.

    Very best regards

    Here is my opinion.

he first one is VG....the second one is G. I have almost a full set of these. I am missing the 1885...and the 1913! If you run across the 12 s ...i'd grab it...low mintage.
