My friend is getting ready to sell his coins and has inlisted me to help him. I was wondering if I could get the collective cointalk forum's opinions on some coins. He said these are his "bad coins of duplicates. Here goes. I hope my images upload!!! 1886 1896 1921 I will upload the Half dollar , quarters and nickels next. THANK YOU!!
1885- AU 1886 - F/VF - jacked up obverse 1896 - could be either AU or MS -- probably AU, but can't tell from pics 1921 - VF/EF - jacked up reverse - may be counterfeit
I don't see any of those coins going for more than double spot price of silver. Sorry, but that's my honest opinion....Mike
"bad coins of duplicates" = bullion value Hello JNSTROM, The coins depicted are probably going to bring bullion value. I doubt a dealer would pay any more because he would have trouble finding a buyer willing to pay more. The 1885 might be worth a couple dollars more but that would be the dealer’s only profit potential in these coins. Very best regards, collect89
Did he dip the coins? They all look like they have been cleanded at some point. Also, junk morgans frequently sell for a bit more than other junk silver so you might want to hold out for something in the $15-$16 per coin range.
I'm going to be a troublemaker here and suggest that the 1921 is counterfeit.. look at the date, is it me or does the font look completely off?
