Well, I finally made a trip to town to pick up my mail and have a few of those Commemoratives I went crazy on this past month.
This one seems to me to be a higher grade than PCGS gave it. I would love to have some ideas from others. These are seller photos in the slab.

It looks MS65 to me, too, although, disclaimer, the photos are a little out of focus.

I am just giddy that the appreciation of early commemoratives is back on the site!

Based on the photos, I see some greenish breaks in the fairly uniform toning at 4 o’clock on both the obverse and reverse and also at 11 o’clock on the reverse. Is that also a small rim ding at 9 o’clock on the reverse? I am being somewhat negatively critical here, but there appears to be negativity toward the assigned grade.

That said, the guess is a MS 64, but a hoped for 65 minimum. If my eyes are deceiving me, I am in the 65 to 66 range.

There is some "dirt" present in A on DOLLAR on the obverse and almost a "burned" spot look to Noon on the Obverse, the other places you mentioned are the slab, I think.

Most of you were dead on. In-hand, I think it might be a bit nicer, but I'm okay with it where it is.

MS-65 before I saw the reveal. These coins coins consistently come nice. Low grade ones are unusual.

I love the toning. Nice example of a commem with a great design.

...now I see clearly...you are a shut in who went stir-crazy and hit a home run going commemorative crazy!

If it is not too presumptuous of me, would you mind disclosing a ballpark figure on the price of the Cal Expo? I have a few neat commems, I’ll have to dig them out and post. Mine are nowhere near as nice as this one or the Texas you posted. SF Bay Bridge, Stone Mountain, and some others.

These days, it’s nice to find something else that’s contagious...Spark
