Who said "Roman"? Seleukid, Parthian, Alba Longa, Greeks, kings, goddesses, empresses, even Macedonians are welcome.

Sorry I have been away but the guesses so far were wrong. I can see now that I will not be able to do much here for two reasons. I can not be around to give answers in a timely fashion much of the time and I don't like making the blanked out images and believe our newer members would be better off seeing whole coins. The 8 hour rule will kick in about 2 hours so Ryro can post something better but I do not know when his next time on the list will be so the thread will just sit there. This thread will require more consistent time online than some of us have.

Thanks all for giving it a try. Due to open intellectual property rights questions arising from failure to recognize prior art (apologies to @Pavlos), logistical complexity, some unconfirmed concerns about safety of ancient coins, and experimental evidence that suggests that this game is "just not that fun", I will take it back to the R&D department for further refinement. In the mean time, there is this fun game that is a bit like dominoes only with ancient coins..."Follow the coin theme GAME - ancient edition - post ‘em if you got ‘em" :)

P.S. @Ryro that is a nice looking coin - maybe Antiochos VII Euergetes with Nike reverse?

And I think the game IS fun! I hope you'll keep posting coins. But it is your party...

here's one more - which I pulled up recently as an unusual portrait...and in my view both a bit tough to ID and with a twist that I find surprising...
    name that Cappadocian.jpg
    Name that King

    Cappadocia Ariarathes IX?

CORRECT! and the twist: Ariarathes IX was the 8 year old son of Mithridates VI of Pontus when he was put on the throne by his father. Around year 4 of his reign, during an uprising, he started minting coins which blend the son's features with those of his father...a not so subtle reminder to the Cappadocians of the powerful father behind the young King. For more see: "The coinages of Ariarathes VIII and Ariarathes IX of Cappadocia" by O. Mørkholm.

Unless that's Fausta or Helena, I have no idea. Even if I were right, I'm afraid I don't have the skills or the patience or the software to be able to easily redact the names of the rulers on my coins.

Excellent call! This is the nicest coin I've ever gotten from an "uncleaned" lot:

Covering the name is easy once you know how.
I just go to my phones pictures, find the one I want to show and then select edit and the squiggly:

And draw right over the words with my finger
    Screenshot_20200725-150436_Photos.jpg

    And walla!
